Contains a memoir recounting Wonnacott's military experiences, including his induction, and basic and officer training. Describes the Navy's use of concrete ships in place of steel vessels. Recounts Wonnacott's logistical responsibilities as an officer and his participation in supplying troops at Saipan and Okinawa. Relates his contacts with other LDS servicemen and his close brushes with death, ascribing his survival to divine protection. Also contains a biography of his post-war career. Includes Wonnacott's military induction papers, personal notes, commendations, a citation for his Bronze Star, and a copy of the Japanese documents of surrender. Photographs show him in full military dress, ships he served on, commanding officers, and a naval celebration at the war's end.

Wonnacott served in the U.S. Naval Reserve during World War II from 1942-1945.
